Communications & Creative Services
We develop strategic communications and professional designs to support the Office of Information (OIT) mission.
Services: We primarily serve OIT staff to improve communications about technology initiatives through:
- Communication planning
- Content development & editing
- Reports, websites, forms, posters, etc.
- Graphics, charts, diagrams
- Usability tests, surveys, focus groups
We collaborate with campus photographers, communication professionals, Reprographics, faculty, staff and students.
Projects: View a presentation of previous work. In 2008-2009, for example, we plan to:
- Conduct security & Lotus Notes campaigns
- Gather feedback about file storage systems
- Hire a Web Design & Production Specialist
- Develop unit websites & brochures
Tools: We're a Mac environment and use applications like Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Contribute.
Successes: In 2007, OIT earned three Pinnacle awards from the Public Relations Society of America, Las Vegas Valley Chapter. Teamwork amongst OIT staff typically leads to increased attendance at events and high satisfaction rates. Read examples >

In just 4.5 hours of an open-house event, over 300 faculty, staff and students learned advanced Firefox features from 1-on-1 sessions with Student Help Desk employees

In a spring 2007 Think Before You Click campaign, 1,060 campus community members got tips about security at booths; 400 UNLV employees were caught with reference documents by their workstations; 106 employees attended security seminars

Over 4,000 people visit OIT's website daily

90% of UNLV employees agree that "OIT's website is a valuable source of information"; 89% agree that "OIT's faculty & staff technology booklet is useful."
