Virus Protection
UNLV has a site license for Symantec's AntiVirus products. UNLV employees may download and install Symantec both on your campus machine and your home computer. To use the downloads, you will be prompted to enter your Lotus Notes web login name and password.
Students, please pick up a CD from the IT Help Desk.
If you have any problems accessing, downloading, or installing Symantec AntiVirus, contact the IT Help Desk or stop by to pick up an installation CD. The help desk assists with installations on campus computers, and provides information about your home installation.
Windows XP and Vista
Campus computers
The managed version of Symantec Antivirus for campus computers automatically receives updates from the UNLV Endpoint Server anytime updates are available. There is no need to remember to run the "live update" utility yourself. This option is available for use only on campus computers as it requires the campus server.

Symantec Endpoint Antivirus v. 11 for Windows 32 bit Managed
Home use
Faculty and staff may install Antivirus on their home computers. This version is unmanaged, meaning the "live update" utility should be run at least once per week, or set up to run on an automatic schedule, in order to update your virus definitions on a regular basis. Home users of Symantec Antivirus must use the unmanaged version and set this update schedule as off-campus computers cannot connect to the UNLV Endpoint Server.

64 Bit
Need the 64 bit version? If you are running Windows XP or Vista 64 bit, use the following installations. Remember that managed is for on-campus, unmanaged is for Home use. If you are unsure whether or not you need 64 bit, go to My Computer > Properties to check.

MacOS
Click the appropriate link below according to your OS version. Symantec for Mac requires the user to run Live Update manually on a regular basis, or set up an update schedule so that it occurs automatically. This Symantec installation does not include a managed option for Macs.
