General purpose classroom VHS equipment will not be supported after September 2016

The Office of Information Technology, with approval from the Faculty Technology Advisory Board, will stop replacing and supporting VHS equipment in general use classrooms in September 2016.

If you currently use VHS tapes, you should begin finding alternative materials now. Library Media Resources can assist you in finding out if the tapes that you are using are available online or on DVD as well as with helping to locate and use video resources. For assistance, email Media Resources at mcs [dot] liedlibrary [at] unlv [dot] edu or call 702-895-2122.

The decision to discontinue support for VHS comes from the declining use of VHS players in UNLV general purpose classrooms, deteriorating tapes, and the increasingly limited availability of new playback equipment.

If you have any questions about the phasing out of VHS players in the general purpose classrooms, please contact the IT Help Desk.
