Action required for upcoming Y: Drive changes: Shut down campus computers by 11 p.m. on Mon., Sept 18

Home directories, also known as the "Y:" Drive, will be unavailable from 12:01 a.m. through 4 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19 as OIT moves these directories to a new server.

To avoid losing any unsaved changes, avoid saving files or making changes to the "Y:" drive during the maintenance window. Faculty and staff should save all files and logoff or shutdown your computer before leaving work. Students should save all files and disconnect from Rebelfiles before midnight on Friday, September 18.

If you do not turn off your computer on September 18, you will need to restart the computer on September 19 in order to see your Y: drive.

During the outage window, you should be able to open and read files if necessary, but any changes to files, folders, etc. made during this time will not be saved.

Additionally, Mac users will need to change their drive mappings to reflect the new server name. For example, any mapping to //oit-fs-01.ad.unlv.edu/Users/username should be changed to //IT-MSWFS-FSP-01.ad.unlv.edu/Users/username, where username is the user's ACE account name. Contact the IT Help Desk or your departmental technician to get assistance with this if needed.
