OIT, EPHE Research Team Recognized as a 2016 Splunk Public Sector Innovation Award Winner

A research team comprised of University of Nevada, Las Vegas staff and students has received the Mission award for education from Splunk as part of its Public Sector Innovation Awards. The awards were announced on November 15 during the Splunk GovSummit conference in Washington, D.C.

Beware of phishing attempts and other email scams!

As we start the fall semester, remember to be mindful about phishing attempts and other attempts to steal your private information. These attempts can appear to come from anywhere, even people you know.

To protect yourself, never enter any personal information, usernames, or passwords in response to an email, or on a website that is linked to from an email. Never open files in an email that you were not expecting.

Additional WebCampus open labs for Faculty/TAs available through August and September

Have a question about WebCampus? Drop in to an open lab from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. every Friday, year round, in Lied Library 1225 for hands-on assistance from our expert support staff.

In addition to ongoing open labs, we will host the following sessions, also in Lied Library 1225, to help you get ready for the fall semester:

ACE account logins will be unavailable from 11 p.m. on Friday, August 19 - 12 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, August 20.

Maintenance on the ACE self-service page, ace.unlv.edu, was rescheduled and will now occur on Saturday, August 20. As a result, users will be unable to log into the applications below, unable to change ACE passwords, and unable to set up new ACE accounts during this time.

The upgrade will enable additional features on the ACE self-service page. More information about those features will be announced soon.

Register now for WebCampus Grade Center workshops in April - July

Registration for WebCampus Grade Center workshops held in April - July is now open. Morning sessions will be offered every second Friday of the month (4/8, 5/13, 6/10, 7/8) and afternoon sessions will be offered every fourth Tuesday or Thursday of the month (4/19, 5/26, 6/26, 7/26).

General purpose classroom VHS equipment will not be supported after September 2016

The Office of Information Technology, with approval from the Faculty Technology Advisory Board, will stop replacing and supporting VHS equipment in general use classrooms in September 2016.

If you currently use VHS tapes, you should begin finding alternative materials now. Library Media Resources can assist you in finding out if the tapes that you are using are available online or on DVD as well as with helping to locate and use video resources. Courses used to pilot test Blackboard Learn will be removed from WebCampus on Dec. 28, 2015

Courses that were part of the WebCampus (Blackboard Learn) system pilot have been archived and will be removed from WebCampus on December 28, 2015. These include:

OIT needs your feedback on the RAVE RSS feed

OIT is seeking feedback on potentially removing the Rebel Announcements Via Email (RAVE) RSS feed from service.

The server currently providing the feed will soon be decommissioned and the RSS feed must either be transitioned to a new service or also decommissioned until a new RAVE system is developed. RAVE messages will continue to be sent to students via email every Saturday and viewable online at https://webapps.oit.unlv.edu/rave/default.aspx.
