Lotus Notes Domino 5 server was down between 8:38 and 8:47 AM due to an IMAP serrvice problem. Services have been restored.

Customers have been temporarily disconnected from UNLV Wireless and prompted to log in again due to hardware failures. OIT is working on the issue, as described below. Until the issue is fixed, OIT recommends that you log in again when prompted to reconnect to UNLV Wireless.

At 10:14 AM, Monday, May 4, 2009 Systems and Applications reported Domino 1 and 5 as down.  Domino 5 service was restored at 11:43 AM and Domino 1 service was restored at 12:08. The root cause for Domino 5 was a log file issue. The root cause of the Domino 1 outage is unknown.

At 8:43 AM until 8:48 AM, Thursday, April 23, 2009 Domino 3 was offline due to a power supply issue.  Domino 3 is back online and responding.

Between 1-2:26 PM, Wednesday, April 1, 2009, the Lotus Notes Domino 5 server was down. All mail was queued and the service is back online. The root cause was an IMAP bug, a known-issue. IBM has provided us with a patch which OIT applied Wednesday, April 1st, 11-11:30 PM.

In the past several weeks there have been intermittent outages of Lotus Notes. Because these outages have usually involved only one of the seven Domino servers that host campus mail files, some users have been down while others have no problem accessing Notes. The outages have been caused by acknowledged bugs in Lotus Notes. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by these outages and have been working diligently with IBM to resolve the problem as described below.

Symantec virus protection software is available for free to all faculty, staff and students. On campus machines, you can install the software yourself, or contact the IT Help Desk to have it installed for you. UNLV employees may also pick up a CD for home computers at the IT Help Desk and students may pick one up at the Student Help Desk.
