UNLV employees with Lotus Notes accounts may submit news. If students would like
to submit announcements they may ask an employee to do so on their behalf. Messages are due the WEDNESDAY before the Saturday that you expect students to read the news.
Instructions
- Compose the message to meet the guidelines.
- Log in using your Lotus Notes e-mail address and web password. Click the Submit tab.
- Fill out message fields.
- Click Submit.
If you need to send an e-mail immediately, contact one of the Trusted Submitters.
Your message will go to a "Reviewer" in your department that ensures the message meets UNLV guidelines and that it has not been submitted in the recent past. You will receive confirmation within the week.
Logging In
Log in to
RAVE using your Lotus Notes e-mail address and web password.
- If you have a Lotus Notes account, you already have a web password. Your web password
is the one you use to access your Lotus Notes account remotely.
- If you don't know your Lotus Notes web password, call the IT Help Desk at 895-0777
to have it reset.
What happens after I submit a message?
The message will be put into a queue. A confirmation e-mail will also be sent to
the submitter. If rejected, an e-mail will be sent to the submitter with an explanation.
Message field
Fill in the following fields:
- Subject: Make sure your subject is specific and informative.
- Category: Select the appropriate category (announcement, event or deadline) from
the drop down menu.
- Content: Remember that brief is better. Your message cannot exceed 3,000 characters
(including returns and punctuation).
- Recipients: Select the appropriate class(es) of students (freshmen, sophomores,
juniors, seniors, graduates and professionals). Graduate students include those
enrolled in master and
doctorate programs. Professionals include dental and law
school students.
- Send: Choose "Next Announcement” under most circumstances.
Select “Today” only if there is an extremely urgent message regarding campus operations that day. You must include a "Note to Reviewer" explaining the urgency, and indicate whether or not a university administrator or office is requiring the message go out.
- Note to Reviewer: Include information that will help for approvals. for example, if you are sending a survey that is part of a UNLV research project, include the IRB approval information. If you're advertising an event, list the sponsoring organization.
- Link: Provide a web link if appropriate.
- Your Department: Select the department that employs you or is related to the announcement you want to send. Your message will go to a reviewer in that area.
- Contact information: Include contact information so readers know whom they can call
or e-mail for additional information.
- Submitter information: This information will not be public to students. It is for the reviewer,
in case he/she needs clarification before the message is approved.
- Submit: Click Submit to forward the message to a reviewer.
Timed sessions
You will be automatically logged out if there is no mouse activity on the page for
30 minutes. If you are logged out while working, your work will be saved and available when you log in again.
