Students > Website Publishing

After activating your computing account, you can use your network space to build a website. It’s free and easy to use.

Publishing your website to the Internet:

  1. Log into your computing account. Browse to the home directory (H:\ drive)
  2. Create a folder named public_html
  3. Save all images and .htm/html files inside the public_html folder.
  4. Your homepage filename must be saved as index.htm
  5. The URL for your website will be:
    http://complabs.nevada.edu/~username
Your username is the prefix to your Rebelmail account, which is the same as your computing account username.

Help with publishing

The student help desk and computer lab assistants can ensure you have access to your folder and account. You can build webpages by using HTML or via a website development software like Dreamweaver and Frontpage. Before buying the software, see if it's offered at a discount to UNLV students.

Educational Outreach offers courses on website publishing. Free online tutorials are handy for busy students who want a quick fix for training.
