Faculty may publish a website on the faculty web server (faculty.unlv.edu), which is hosted by OIT. You can create a website using HTML files or use the Ready Made Website option. Please evaluate your options and then submit an account request through the IT Help Desk. You can expect a contact from OIT staff within 2 business days of your request.
If you want a faculty website, but you do not want to write your own HTML or produce your own graphics, Ready Made Websites is a good choice for you. Ready Made Websites run on an easy to use content management system called WordPress. We provide the web framework and you simply input your information.
We supply the server space, and you provide everything else.
Department, Unit, or Student Organization Websites
Web Communications hosts and supports department and unit websites. To launch a student organization website, contact Get Involved at 895-4610. SORCE, a group within the Get Involved department, will give you space in Orgsync, the student organization portal.
Help with publishing
- UNLV employees and students should check for deals on software before investing in products like Frontpage and Dreamweaver. There's a good chance you get a better price on software because of your affiliation with UNLV.
- Educational Outreach offers courses on website publishing.
- Watch and learn. Employees and staff have free access to tutorials, including web design, on Lynda.com.
