Courses used to pilot test Blackboard Learn will be removed from WebCampus on Dec. 28, 2015

Courses that were part of the WebCampus (Blackboard Learn) system pilot have been archived and will be removed from WebCampus on December 28, 2015. These include:

OIT needs your feedback on the RAVE RSS feed

OIT is seeking feedback on potentially removing the Rebel Announcements Via Email (RAVE) RSS feed from service.

The server currently providing the feed will soon be decommissioned and the RSS feed must either be transitioned to a new service or also decommissioned until a new RAVE system is developed. RAVE messages will continue to be sent to students via email every Saturday and viewable online at https://webapps.oit.unlv.edu/rave/default.aspx.

IT Help Desk phones are experiencing high call volume

The IT Help Desk is currently experiencing high call volume. Callers may receive an error message directing them to contact Telecommunications, but this is unnecessary. Instead, please contact the IT Help Desk using an alternate method below or try calling back at a later time.

We appreciate your patience during the busy start of the semester, and apologize for any inconvenience and longer wait times.

Campus WiFi Update Set for 4 a.m. Sunday, July 26

OIT will be performing an update to a number of wireless access points on Sunday, July 26, between 4 and 5 a.m. During this time, WiFi connections in some buildings will be unavailable.

After the update is completed, you should be able to connect and use WiFi as normal. If you experience any problems, you may need to reconnect to UNLV-Secure, or in rare cases, update your wireless drivers.

IT Help Desk anticipates limited phone functionality on June 20, 2015 and June 21, 2015

Due to Telecommunications maintenance on the campus telephone system, the IT Help Desk will have limited phone functionality from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21.

The planned maintenance may leave VoIP telephone service across campus intermittently or completely unavailable. We anticipate that the IT Help Desk will be able to receive phone calls during this time, but the menu, on-hold queue, and voice mail will not be available.

Many systems will be unavailable June 13 - 14 for SCS data center maintenance

Update: Following a hardware failure of OIT equipment located in the SCS data center, many of the services scheduled to be down during this outage continue to remain offline. Please follow http://status.unlv.edu for ongoing status updates.

SCS is planning to replace essential power equipment in the data center on June 13, 2015. This maintenance requires shutting down the SCS data center and will impact a number of critical campus services for an extended period of time.

Important Information Regarding Changes to WebCampus Accounts (Faculty/TAs)

As part of ongoing efforts to consolidate usernames and passwords, WebCampus will be integrated with the ACE account management system on May 30, 2015.

Faculty and teaching assistants who currently log in to WebCampus using their NSHE ID will have two accounts as we transition between Summer and Fall semesters.

Which account do you use beginning May 30?

Lotus Notes will be shut down on June 30, 2015. Are you ready?

The Lotus Notes servers will be decommissioned from service on June 30, 2015.

After June 30, you will unable to access any information in Lotus Notes. OIT will also be unable to assist with retrieving any information previously stored in Lotus Notes or convert Lotus Notes archive files to Outlook format.

At this time, you must contact the IT Help Desk if you:

Create new ACE account security questions now

A new ACE account management system that makes accessing your campus computing accounts easier and more secure is here. Sign in with your current ACE account information and create new security questions now.

These changes are part of our ongoing efforts to reduce the number of usernames and passwords you have at UNLV. You’ll see more services using the ACE account, including WebCampus, in the near future.

Contact OIT if you have a Lotus Notes archive file

If you have ever created an archive of your Lotus Notes database, you must now contact OIT to have this file converted in order to be able to access it in the future.
