Home Drive and Network Folder Maintenance Scheduled for 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, April 6.

At 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, April 6, OIT will conduct routine maintenance on networked file services. The work is expected to be finished by 4 a.m. 
 
The following services will be unavailable: 
  • All Home Directories
  • Student Group and Class Folders
  • Staff Group and Department Folders (including Annual Evaluations and Conflict of Interest)
  • Software Repositories 
  • Network Applications Folders 

WebCampus maintenance at 12:30 a.m. on April 1, 2014

Tonight at 12:30 a.m., the Office of Information Technology will conduct emergency maintenance on WebCampus to fix discussion board and database performance issues.

To avoid losing any work, please log off of WebCampus and do not use the system until maintenance is complete. An announcement will be posted on the WebCampus homepage, webcampus.unlv.edu.

We appreciate your patience as we conduct this necessary maintenance.

Home Drive Maintenance Scheduled for 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, March 23.

The Office of Information Technology will conduct OIT File Services maintenance during the regularly scheduled maintenance window, 12:01 a.m. until approximately 6 a.m., on Sunday, March 23.

During this time, network home directories and group folders for students, faculty, and staff will be intermittently unavailable. Servers will be taken offline and brought back online individually as maintenance is completed.

The maintenance will upgrade OIT File Services to the latest software version.

Internet service will be unavailable on Sunday, March 16 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

On Sunday, March 16 from 6 p.m. until approximately 10 p.m., the Office of Information Technology will replace internet firewall equipment and update network settings.

During this time, internet service will not be available on campus. Emails sent to users off campus will be queued and delivered when service is restored.

Windows XP, Office 2003 End of Life Less Than One Month Away

On April 8, Microsoft will no longer support or provide security updates for Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003.

Without updates and security patches, computers running Windows XP and Office 2003 will be extremely vulnerable to computer viruses and are a serious threat to campus computer security.

If you are currently running XP or Office 2003, please contact the IT Help Desk to have your system upgraded. Many systems eligible for upgrade can be serviced and returned within two to three days.

Intermittent WiFi outage to perform maintenance, Monday, March 3, from 11 p.m. - midnight.

This evening, from 11 p.m. to midnight, the Office of Information Technology will perform system updates to WiFi access points. The update should resolve several issues, including an issue with some users being disconnected from the WiFi network.

During maintenance, WiFi will be intermittently unavailable. While most buildings will be closed at this time, the residential halls WiFi network (ResNet) will be affected.

Apple iOS, Mac OS updates to fix security issue now available.

An update that fixes a recent major security flaw affecting Apple iOS devices (iPhones, iPads, and iPods) and Mac computers is now available.b The security issue allows websites to fake security credentials and pose as trusted sites, enabling them to intercept your information. Apple applications affected include Safari, Mail, Calendar, and others.

We recommend anyone using devices with iOS 6, iOS 7 or computers with OS 10.9 (Mavericks) to connect to a trusted network and update immediately.

RAVE and SEND will be unavailable Monday, March 3, from 8 a.m - noon.

On Monday, March 3 from 8 a.m. until approximately noon, the RAVE and SEND web applications will be unavailable as the Office of Information Technology performs necessary updates to these applications.
